Heh, ourmedia.org appears to be slashdotted right now despite archive.org help. ;)

Well, this is not good: Ourmedia gets patron data from archive.org, allowing for easy membership at Ourmedia for existing IA patrons. The problem is, your new Ourmedia account becomes you = your IA patron email address, now exposed to the world (and to spammers).

In contrast, AFAIK IA patron emails at the archive.org site itself are only viewable by certain admins through certain nonpublic views.

Arg, I've sent that site a msg. People who aren't comfortable with the idea might want to hold off trying to log in to that site with their IA patron data.

EDIT, quick followup: To my relief, it looks like you can edit your identity after you become a member there (which I just did, myself). Still, that default creation setting is troubling.
